The Cabinet has approved a draft ministerial regulation that will allow foreigners to buy a maximum of one rai, or about 1,600 square meters, of land in Thailand. One of the requirements is an investment with a minimum of 40 million baht worth that must be kept for three years. Foreign investors can have access to a wider choice of investment alternatives thanks to the ministerial regulation, which can be revised every five years. Four categories of high-potential foreigners, including high-wealth individuals, retirees, those planning to work from Thailand, and specialists with specific talents, will be eligible to purchase land in Thailand for residential use.
The 29th APEC Finance Ministers' Meeting (APEC FMM), which was held on October 19–20, 2022, at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center in Bangkok and headed by Minister of Finance Arkhom Termpittayapaisith, was a success, according to Prime Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha. In order to create a free, open, fair, inclusive, non-discriminatory, transparent, and predictable international trade and investment environment favorable to both global and regional economic growth, APEC economies made a commitment at the 29th APEC FMM to deal with rising inflation. New policies have been investigated as revolutionary forces for economic growth, including digitization and sustainable economic growth.
Anutin Charnvirakul, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Health stated that although the number of people infected with Ebola is still small and the World Health Organization (WHO) has not declared the outbreak a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC), the Ministry of Public Health is not being negligent by closely monitoring the disease situation. According to Thailand's Communicable Diseases Act of the Year 1995, precautions have been increased at the international communicable disease control checkpoint since September 2022 by inspecting all tourists from Uganda. Before entering Thailand, they must register at the international communicable disease control checkpoint.
Prime Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha delivered a speech on United Nations (UN) Day—24 October 2022. He emphasized that Thailand has played an active and innovative role in exchanging experiences on problems where Thailand has potential over the course of its 75-year membership in the UN. He believes that the world will be saved from crises through cooperation within the framework of the UN. The Thai government is ready to support the goals and objectives of the UN, including cooperation with international organizations, for the well-being of all future generations.
On 20 October 2022, H.E. Miss Cecilia Zunilda Galarreta Bazan, Ambassador of the Republic of Peru to Thailand, paid a courtesy call on General Prayut Chan-o-cha, Prime Minister, on the occasion of taking the position. Both parties agreed that there are many chances for Thailand's commerce with Peru to grow, particularly through collaboration in the area of agricultural trade. The leading exporters of agro-food items globally are Thailand and Peru, both of which have a bio-diversified economy. The Prime Minister believes that Peru's circular economy program and the BCG Economy Model are compatible. This will make it possible for both countries to advance their mutual cooperation in sustainable agriculture, bioenergy, and the circular economy. The Peruvian Ambassador applauded the BCG Economy Model for being in line with Peruvian policy and for making a significant contribution to environmentally friendly and sustainable economic growth. The Thai business community was invited by the Peruvian Ambassador to engage in infrastructure projects including roads, hospitals, and the service industry. Thailand can be a key partner in the expansion of multilateral infrastructure cooperation between the two countries. The Premier emphasized that Thailand is prepared to advance multilateral collaboration with Peru.
Starting on November 15, deposit cash machine users must use bank cards to prove their identities. The Bank of Thailand (BOT) noted that the modification is required to ensure that laws prohibiting money laundering and countering financing of terrorism are followed. The ability to deposit money using methods other than CDM machines will be available to those who do not have a debit card, ATM card, or credit card. As an alternative, individuals can use non-bank money top-up machines, convenience shop counter services, Thailand Post service providers, and bank-supported deposit agents, according to BOT Senior Director for Payment Systems Policy Department, Budsakorn Teerapunyachai. The depositor will need to provide their ID card while using the aforementioned methods. The BOT will exert pressure on banks to install different kinds of identification technologies at CDM machines. All groups of people will find it more convenient to deposit money thanks to this, which could require the use of citizen identity cards or cardless identification.
