Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau (Public Organization) or TCEB, The Department of Health, Ministry of Public Health with 23 partners signed MOU “Unlock MICE Cities with High Standard of Safety” to move economy forward in every relevant area, launch 10 MICE cities and improve hygiene standard in services and establishment.
On April, 1st 2021, Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Health, chairman of “Unlock MICE Cities with High Standard of Safety” MOU signing ceremony at Grand Ballroom, Rama Gardens Hotel, Bangkok stated that “Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau (Public Organization) or TCEB, Ministry of Public Health and 23 partners such as Department of Tourism, Department of Land Transport, Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), Thai Chamber of Commerce, Airports of Thailand Public Company Limited, and Thai Hotels Association joined their hands to sign “Unlock MICE Cities with High Standard of Safety” MOU to support and promote safe meeting, exhibition and events in Thai cities. This will go along with hygiene standards in establishment and activities to stimulate and recover economy in all regions in Thailand. This project also focuses on improving standards in services and establishment in 10 MICE cities, which are Bangkok, Khon Kaen, Chiang Mai, Nakhon Ratchasrima, Pitsanulok, Phuket, Songkhla, Surat Thani, Udon Thani, and Pattaya.
“As COVID-19 spreading in Thailand, we can control the spreading within limited area, so the government can deploy relief measures in many areas, along with creating guideline to reduce quarantine duration for travelers who have been vaccinated or tested before entering Thailand. In Thailand at the moment, vaccination has been gradually increased for target groups to reduce sickness and death from COVID-19. Ministry of Public Health set vaccination goal to cover Thai people enough for creating herd immunity within 2021. The goal has to go in parallel with improving hygiene standards in establishment and personal hygiene of the people to move forward the economy”.
Mr. Chiruit Isarangkun Na Ayuthaya, President, Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau (Public Organization) or TCEB, stated: “Unlock MICE Cities with High Standard of Safety” is a project we shall undertake to cover all areas of event organization so that all-around safety can be assured in all regions when opening the cities and organizing events. Initially we will start the implementation in 10 MICE cities before extending to other destinations at a later stage. We will put into practice Thailand MICE Venue Standard or TMVS together with health protocols for MICE or MICE New Normal to create standard and safety for events. TCEB will organize road shows in MICE cities in each region to disseminate the knowledge on COVID-19 prevention measures, support local entrepreneurs and create organizational collaboration in each area so that they become confident in organizing events. We are scheduled to launch the project in Phuket, Udon Thani, Khon Kaen, Chiang Mai, Pattaya and Bangkok in April.”
Dr. Suwannachai Wattanayingcharoenchai, Director-General of the Department of Health revealed that, “Unlock MICE Cities with High Standard of Safety” happens from the collaboration from all sectors to move forward economy and compliance with public health standard. This approach focuses on implementation of hygiene standards in establishment and activities. From collaboration among partners, we have created guideline on hygiene and sanitation for this project to be used in the implemented areas, which will ensure safety for the people. The self-evaluation result from establishment in Thai Stop COVID Plus found that the top establishment which pass the evaluation are convention and exhibition centers (100%), hotels (99.1%) and department stores (97.8%) respectively. This result shows cooperation readiness among the establishment in Thailand. Moreover, the Department of Health requests more establishments and businesses to do the self-evaluation.

For people and visitors of convention center, tourist attractions, or public places, we would like to encourage them to strictly follow Ministry of Public Health measures by checking in-out through Thai Chana application, keeping your distance and avoid touching others, wearing mask at all time, washing hands frequently, checking body temperature, and lastly monitoring yourself.
