Further to the morning update, the situation remains largely unchanged with the ongoing anti-government demonstrations in Bangkok continue to take place at six downtown intersections – Pathumwan, Rajaprasong, Saladaeng, Lat Phrao, Asoke and the Victory Monument roundabout – and the Government Complex on Chaeng Wattana Road. The atmosphere around the rally sites was peaceful.
Roads at the rally sites remain closed, but traffic in most parts of Bangkok is moving as per normal since all other roads and expressways are not affected. However, today’s marches by the anti-government demonstrators to different parts of Bangkok may have caused traffic disruptions at certain times.
Commuters and Business travellers can still commute to and from their desired destinations using all other roads and expressways that remain opened to traffic. For those staying near the rally sites, they can connect to their destinations using other available means of transport such as the skytrain, the subway and the airport rail link or the boat and ferry service.
Life in Bangkok and throughout Thailand continues as per normal. Businesses ,MICE venues, tourist attractions and activities are open and operating as usual. However, Department stores and shopping malls located in Rajaprasong and Pathumwan areas open from 10.00-20.00 hrs.
while some businesses may be closed. Telephone – landline and mobile – and Internet services continue to be available as per normal.
All airports in Bangkok and throughout the country are open and operating as per normal. However, air passengers with flights depart out of Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang International Airports are advised to allocate at least four hours prior to their scheduled flight departure time. Air passengers are also advised to check flight status prior to travelling.
